- 2 garlic, minced
- oil for deep-frying
- 1 lb. (0.4 kg) boneless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes or long strips
- toasted sesame seeds to garnish
- FRYING BATTER:
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1/2 c all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 Egg white
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 c cornstarch
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 c water, ice cold
- HONEY SESAME SAUCE:
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 c water
- 1/2 tbsp ketchup
- 1/3 c pure honey
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp salt
In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients for the batter. Whisk until well mixed.
Add the chicken pieces, then toss until well coated with the batter.
In another mixing bowl, add all the ingredients for the Honey Sesame Sauce. Stir until well mixed.
Place a saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Add 2-inch of oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the coated chicken pieces, then cook until they turn golden brown. Remove from the pan onto a clean plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Place a skillet on the stove, then add about 2 tbsp of the frying oil and allow it to become hot.
Add garlic and sauté until aromatic.
Add the Honey Sesame Sauce and stir until well mixed. Simmer for a few minutes until the texture of the sauce becomes thick.
Add the fried chicken and stir until well coated by the delicious sauce.
Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
Serve hot with fried rice. Enjoy!
